Keep observing what you said to compromise a promise likewise wisdom of life. Remember that, do not make the least bit promise to keep as far as thousands of miles. Toward the others, the promise is a very hopeful chance to bring them a very cheerful life. When the promise is lost and cannot be honored, it will be disappointed and even harm. Toward own self, a promise is a kind of very serious examination of one’s personality. When you cannot keep your promise, there will be the worst judgment to your character and even your personal trust or honor.

Actually, that is just a word and easy to say it out. But not all the people easy to say it and observe what they said or promise. So the calm and wise people are not easy to promise anything to the others. Because they know that once they promise, the promise must be kept and action must execute to be a result.

Review a few years ago, when I just get started involving in this kind of work. There was a Japanese company I attend to meet with one local company for its business discussion. In fact, the Japanese company they need accurate and clear with each stage of action. So they would like to know how could the local company can and cannot do in the moment. The local company was very excited and want to do business with the Japanese companies so much, then they commit themselves immediately without any detail consideration in order to gain benefits more faster. They make all their promise to satisfy the Japanese investment by not reviewing current capacity, situation, and other related stakeholders.

Finally, they could get trusted by the Japanese company at first and got agreement to earn their business benefits. However, a few months later they found out themselves lack of ability to meet the target and complete the tasks they promise on time. That was the start point of them to lose the trust gradually each other and started to fail a relationship. That was the lesson I have learned from the deal.

From this kind of experience, I always reexamine myself even at the time to communicate with customers and in daily life activities to family, friends, and other people around me. Sometimes, it is easy just not to make a promise but some time is not. Because I cannot say no in that case, it is to show I am not a man in that profession or not kind enough to help others. It causes that even you promise or not it still harmful to the others who really want you to give them such as a kind of hope.

Therefore, I do the promise and I also do observe what I said due to what I am confident in and clear myself to accomplish. There are many things to tell myself includes my ability, knowledge, experiences, my time, my situation, and especially a clear plan and schedule to do. In short, the promise is the promise and it can take in action or not is the critical matter to discuss. It doesn’t mean let you make a promise. However, obligation and responsibility are also important in doing the business. Keep your promise to keep your responsibility to do your obligation, so you have to observe what you said at that moment and keep active to get the result as what you said.
