To fall in love with reading
To fall in love with reading! Hello everyone, let’s continue to talk about our column the habits, a good habit begins with reading a book. We mentioned why we persist in the reading habit last week. For this week, we still discuss our topic, “the habits”. Then turning our tune on how to fall in love with reading.
You may remember in your mind and your body that, once you fall in love with someone no matter how hardship or desire or not you will find a chance to stick with them or at least meet him/her once a day. Have you felt it similar to adopting your mini habit of the day? Thus, falling in love with it, it will be the best way to keep it persistent finally it becomes your habit.
And then another question is coming, how to fall in love with reading? The immediate answer is it’s will be the same as how you do to fall in love with someone. And no doubt that the action itself is the how you concern about, and to fall in love with reading is the best method.
This sounds like it makes sense. But I know that many people are dissatisfied in their hearts. Since you say it is a method, you must be able to say 1…2…3…4 at least. Otherwise, as a methodology, it seems not very advanced. It is normal for ordinary people to think this way, but it may be a bit narrow-minded to think so.
Ever since we read and understand the principles, we have an inherent concept, that is, as long as everything is a problem, there should be a way. It can even be said that there should be shortcuts and cheats.
Have you ever thought about it? There are many, many things in this world, even the vast majority of things, that do not require methods, or in other words, they only require action, and the action itself is the method.
Let me give you an example, there is a book, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, and someone asked its author, Stephen Covey, a question.
Say, what should I do if I don’t fall in love with my wife anymore? Then Stephen said, then you love her.
Hey, this person said, teacher, maybe you didn’t understand, what I’m asking is that I don’t love my wife anymore, what should I do?
Stephen said it’s not that I didn’t understand, it’s that you didn’t understand, I mean if you don’t love her, then you love her.
Think about it, is it such a reason? If you don’t love your significant other, if you feel that this is a problem and you want to solve it, there is no good way, the only way you can do it is to act, to love him.
I have heard similar words many times. For example, I have a friend who is a famous English teacher. Once a student asked him what is the best way for the teacher to memorize words. He said that the best way to memorize words is if you want to carry them.
Others ask how it can be done and treat people with sincerity. This seems to be a problem. But once I watched a play, there was an extremely wonderful line in it. There is no path to sincerity, sincerity itself is the path. How well said, to this day, this sentence is still posted on the wall of my mind. This is the case with many things, and the action itself is the solution.
Thus, the column I made about reading is not about any great principles or methods, but just ordinary habits and a good habit begins with reading. You are willing to pick up a book and start reading. Now, stop thinking and take action, read!
